| Steam fireboats served for nearly 100 years, some were leased but 14 were built new. Average length was 100' with a pumping capacity of over 7000 gpm. These boats were costly to maintain, very labor-intensive; but possessed a charm and life that could never be duplicated by more modern power. They are a very important part of America's maritime history. |
